“So … What IS coaching anyways?”


First I will tell you what it is not…

* it is not a counsellor

* it is not a therapist * it is not a mental health professional * it is not someone who dives deeply into your past


A Coach is about NOW!


People generally seek the support of a coach when there is: * a change they want to make * an obstacle in their way * they feel stuck and want to move forward, or * they have goals they want to achieve.


A coach is someone who helps you figure out : * where you are at * where you want to be * and how to get you there


A coach does this by helping you : * develop an effective plan * overcome obstacles in the way * celebrate your successes

* And by supporting you along the journey


This analogy is often used:

…you are a car trying to get from point A to point B and a coach is the bridge that helps you get there.


How does a coach do this?

* By asking you lots & lots & lots of questions. * By listening. * By asking more questions. * By helping develop a plan * By using coaching exercises & techniques * By providing armfuls of support to help you get there.
